WHO'S IN YOUR TREE ?

Do you know who your ancestors are? Do you know where they lived, their occupations, how and why they came to America?

The Southern Arizona Genealogy Society can help you find all of these answers! For over 50 years we have been searching, researching and helping people find their roots. All of this is because of Green Valley resident Allen Ogden, who in 1974 saw the need for a genealogy group in Green Valley. 15 people came to Allen's meeting. (Today we have over 100 members!) Thus, our story began and continues! In September 1977 the members voted to start a club library, and it has grown from a bookshelf in the home of Dr. Mary Hall in Villas West to the current 3,500 books in the Green Valley-Sahuarita Genealogy Library in the Posada Java building on the campus of LaPosada.

We meet monthly, October through May, in the LaPosada Rec Center, 685 S. LaPosada Circle, Bldg. #37 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. At our meetings we have speakers/programs (both in-person and via Zoom) that help our members with their research. Many times, our own members will be the speakers giving us insight into their ancestors and the various ways their research led to finding their ancestors. We also have table discussions to help answer questions or to find answers to "brick walls". We offer educational classes special interest groups (SIGS), workshops, seminars, webinars and more!

We invite you to our next meeting on Thursday, May 21 to see what we are all about. We would love to help you find who's in your tree!

THE HISTORIC VALLE VERDE RANCH INN

The Hidden Gem of Tubac

The Historic Valle Verde Ranch offers a unique blend of history and nature for travelers seeking a peaceful escape. Built in 1938, this beautifully preserved adobe ranch is surrounded by the modern-day Tubac Barrio, yet retains its old-world charm on six serene acres.

The Ranch features three individual guest units, plus the original three bedroom, adobe house, all filled with character and echoes of the past. Whether you're an artist, historian, or avid birder, the private four-acre mesquite bosque (forest) provides the perfect place to relax and soak in the tranquil surroundings. Wander through the property, and you'll find yourself at the historic Anza Trail, where you can choose your own adventure -- head  North to Tubac Village and the Presidio State Park or head South to the Tumacacori National Historic Park and Mission, built in 1681, a scenic three mile hike along the Santa Cruz River.

For bird lovers, Valle Verde Ranch is recognized by the Tucson Audubon Society as a "cardinal level" premium birding habitat, making it a prime spot to observe both resident and migrating birds, along with other Arizona wildlife. It's a hidden gem for those who love a mix of history, nature, and wildlife."
