Tuesday Bird Walk – Anza Trail—Tubac, Tubac Golf Resort Trail - 25-Mar-25
Hi All
Nice and warm day today. We had 35 people so we divided into 3 groups. Marianne walked the trail to the golf resort, Caroline walked Bridge Rd and back along the trail, and Rob took the loop trail. 13 people followed me into the woods where we soon found the Zone Tailed Hawk in their nesting tree near the loop trail. Then we got to see a Common Black Hawk flying with some Turkey Vultures, then the Gray Hawks got in the mix and were circling overhead. Then my favorite little flycatcher started calling, the little Northern Beardless-Tyrannulet with its loud peer, peer, peer call. Such a loud call from such a little bird. Hermit thrushes were seen and then more Gray Hawks and Common Black Hawks being harassed by Common Ravens. Caroline also had plenty of hawks, with the Common Black Hawk as their favorite. Marianne had good looks at a Common Yellowthroat, flitting up and down along the bank of the river north of the gate. Not a bad list for early spring.
We had a total of 47 species. The Trip Report is located here: https://ebird.org/tripreport/344722

I received my art degree from the Colorado Art Institute in 1978. Since then, I have been creating art in many forms; oil, watercolor, pen and ink, charcoal, mixed media, and fiber art. I began quilting 30 years ago and although I loved to create beautiful quilts, my love of art moved me into Fiber Arts, leading me to launch DJ’s Fiber Arts (DJ is short for my first name, Debbie Jo). I am an award-winning fiber and multi-media artist, creating fiber art, painting my own fabric, embellishing using different fibers and media such as silk, wool, paints, beads and more.
Creating fiber art is a deeply personal journey for me, allowing me to merge my love for tactile experiences with my passion for self-expression. Each stitch I make serves as a vessel for my emotions, thoughts, and experiences, woven together into a unique tapestry of my inner world. Through the rhythmic motion of my hands, I find solace and meditation, as I immerse myself in the creative process, unraveling the threads of my imagination to bring forth something entirely new and meaningful. Fiber art is not just my craft; it reflects my soul, a medium through which I communicate with the world, leaving traces of my essence in every intricate detail.
Today, I am a full-time fiber artist who enjoys sharing my knowledge through the unique and exciting classes I offer throughout the country, introducing students to the amazing world of art.
