Announcements and Ramblings
The Spring Bird Count was completed on Sunday. We had 7 teams counting from Palo Parado Road to the Tubac Golf Resort. We had the second highest number of species (114) and the second highest number of individuals (2689). We had several species new this year, including Broad-tailed Hummingbird, Costa's Hummingbird, Lesser Nighthawk, Merlin, Northern Harrier, and the Rufous-backed Robin who is still around the dam just north of the gate from Ron Morriss Park…or so they say! I will have a more detailed report out in the near future.
· Nature walk – Saturday, April 26th at 10:00 am from the Nature Center
· Last Bird Walk – Tuesday, April 29th at 8:00 am from the Nature Center

Water, water, nowhere. Today is Earth Day. We usually have an Earth Day walk to find plants, bugs, butterflies, and all other critters in the riparian zone. Most years we have not been disappointed in the abundance and diversity. Sadly, today we had very few plants flowering and the bugs and butterflies were few and far between. Water or lack thereof, is the reason. Besides the weak monsoon season, we had almost no rain this winter and the plants are feeling it. We can hope for a full monsoon season this year so that our special area along the river will come back in full bloom.

We live in a beautiful spiral galaxy, the Milky Way. Sadly, it is not visible to 80% of the population in the US. In Tubac we are fortunate we can still experience the awe of a starry sky and the splendor of the Milky Way.
